Yes, we have proactively designed tamper resistance into our product line and will design all future products for the US, EU, UK and Middle East with tamper resistance.

Per the NFPA.org National Fire Protection Association website, "Each year, approximately 2,400 children suffer severe shock and burns when they stick items into the slots of electrical receptacles. It is estimated that there are six to 12 child fatalities a year related to this.” While tamper resistant receptacles are not a requirement for our category of products, our company goal is to develop the safest products as possible for the hotel environment.

Yes, all of our products are safety tested to meet UL standards. Our US products meet UL 962A for Furniture Power Distribution Units and UL 1449 for Surge Protection Devices Standard. Our 220V products (for Europe, the UK and the Middle East) meet CE Standards and IEC 62368-1. For enhanced safety, the Cubie Product Line was designed for and successfully passed a UL spill test conducted by our ETL testing lab.

This feature was created with the hotel guest in mind. When the alarm is set and sounds at a particular time, the user presses the knob to turn the alarm off, the alarm time is not saved and will not sound the next day at the same time. This is to prevent alarms inadvertently sounding in hotel rooms when the room is not occupied. If you prefer that the clock hold the alarm time from day to day, there is a Single Day Alarm switch under the battery door that you can change to Single Day Alarm “OFF"

Qi is the wireless charging standard the WPC (Wireless Power Consortium) has developed based on inductive charging technology that was discovered by Nikolas Tesla in the late 1800s. It uses an electromagnetic field to transfer energy between two induction coils- a transmitter on the charging station and a receiver on the mobile device. The WPC Qi certification ensures products are tested and certified to the highest quality standard and are not counterfeit products. The WPC also tests products for interoperability to ensure Qi products will work together. To read more about Qi, go to: https://www.wirelesspowerconsortium.com/blog/288/the-value-of-qi-certification

With top manufacturers including Apple, Samsung and LG adopting the Qi wireless standard, the number of mobile devices with wireless chargers built in will continue to increase. According to market research firm, Allied Market Research the global wireless charging market could grow at a CAGR (compound annual growth rate) of 38.7% during 2018-2025. The adoption of wireless chargers will allow for a more user-friendly experience for your hotel guests. As users purchase new mobile devices with wireless charging built in and use their chargers at home, they will come to demand wireless chargers in hotels.

Some of Brandstand’s products (Cubie, CubieSoho, CubieMod, CubieDash, CubieFlip) incorporate a circuit breaker. A circuit breaker is an automatically operated electrical switch designed to protect an electrical circuit from damage caused by overload or short circuit. Its basic function is to detect a fault condition and interrupt current flow. Circuit breakers and GFCI both interrupt the circuit current, but GFCI is more sensitive and smarter. A circuit breaker will trip only when the current is over its capacity, but a GFCI compares the currents going out and coming back to identify any leakage from the circuit. If there is any leakage at all, the GFCI will trip. GFCIs are used primarily in wet areas, for instance near swimming pools and in bathrooms.

Yes, It is normal that the CubieDuo / CubieTrio and your phone may feel warm. It is designed to operate within a temperature range that will not damage the phone. There is a thermal protection circuit built into the device that will cease the wireless charging if the device becomes too hot. The product has been tested and verified by our safety testing agency, Intertek to the Wireless Power Consortium standards for fast charge 15W wireless charging. Brandstand is a member of the Wireless Power Consortium. For your reference, this is what Samsung says on their website about this question: While charging, the device and the charger* may become hot. During wireless charging or fast charging, the device may feel hotter to the touch. This does not affect the device’s lifespan or performance and is in the device’s normal range of operation. If the battery becomes too hot, Samsung charger may stop charging.

Inductive charging loses energy in the form of heat during the charging process. Major cellphone manufacturers (Apple, Samsung, etc.) have designed power management circuits into their phones to protect the phone from over heating. The phones will turn the charging off to prevent damage to the phone.

The hole diameter is very small. It was intentionally designed this way to prevent the green light from illuminating the hotel room.

Be sure your phone is centered on the wireless charging logo. That is the target and it must be aligned with it.

Per UL code all products need to be installed at least 6 ft from water.

Your Cubie clock is not connected to the internet so it will never exactly match your phone.  You manually set the time during the installation process.

The time is controlled by an independent IC system (standard clock control chip) and not by broadcast time like that displayed on a mobile phone (internet).Based on numerous environmental variables, our findings show a possible variation in time of close to +/- 2 minutes over a month’s time. You may need to periodically adjust the time manually - simply follow the time set instructions printed on the bottom of the unit.

Bluetooth Pairing :

1. Open the Bluetooth setting on your device.

2. Press the Bluetooth button on the Cubie product.

3. The Bluetooth button flashes and Cubie product becomes discoverable. 4. Connect your device and enjoy your music

No, the alarm volume is set during the manufacturing process and is not adjustable

The button is a circuit breaker and may need to be reset if this is activated.

No, the clock display will not show the time but the battery backup ensures the correct time will appear once the power is restored.

Yes, the battery backup ensures the correct time and alarm settings will save until the power is restored.  This keeps you from having to reset the clock and the alarm. The clock display will not show the time until it has power.  The backup occurs in the background until the clock has power again.

If the phone stops charging wirelessly, it is intentional.  There are power management chips built into all cell phones to regulate charging speed and to manage heat ( For instance, the phone’s software might limit the speed of charging above 80% to prevent overheating). As with any Qi-certified wireless charger, it will charge unless it detects excessive heat. If it does, then it will reduce charging speeds. Lower energy output equals lower heat, so the phone will remain safe. The system is designed to turn off if the object is not removed, as to avoid overheating.

The Qi flashing indicates it is in Foreign Object Detection Mode. This safety feature is built into the device to indicate when a metal object has been placed on the wireless charger and should be removed.

The instructions are on the bottom of the clock. User manuals can be found on our website for each of our products.  Go to the product page, scroll down to the section titled “User Manual & Installation Instructions”.  From there you can click to download the user manual.

Be sure the phone is lined up and centered correctly on the Qi wireless charging pad. This form of wireless charging, where two copper coils are placed in direct proximity, is called tightly-coupled electromagnetic inductive charging. For this type of wireless charging to work, the copper coils must align. If you fail to place your smartphone on the pad correctly, it will charge slowly or won't charge at all. Other helpful tips - remove from the case, check the compatibility of the phone with Qi wireless charging, restart your phone, make sure the phone’s software is up to date.
